She is slated to attend her first official royal engagement after ending maternity leave on Sept. 12 for the launch of her charitable fashion label, which benefits the U.K. She will then embark on a tour of Africa with Prince Harry and Archie for two weeks starting Sept. 23. The royals will be traveling to South Africa, Angola and Malawi on their first official trip to the continent. Williams touched on the evolution of her friendship with the Duchess of Sussex in an interview with Australia’s The Sunday Project last year. We have known each other for a long time, but we really kind of are relying on each other quite a lot recently,” she said of the bond. And that support definitely goes both ways—Meghan wore a blazer Serena designed on her royal tour of Australia.
She claimed to have been contemplating suicide during her time as a working royal and complained of a lack of protection for her and her son while being part of the royal institution. In December 2021, three senior appeal judges upheld the judgement of the High Court against ANL, prompting Meghan to call for reform of the tabloid industry. In the same month, ANL's The Mail on Sunday and MailOnline published a front-page statement on Boxing Day acknowledging Meghan's victory, adding that there had been an agreement on "financial remedies". In addition to covering a portion of Meghan's legal costs, the outlet agreed to pay her £1 in damages for invading her privacy and a confidential sum for infringing her copyright. They were also banned from naming Meghan's friends, who had spoken to People magazine about the letter in 2018.

In July 2020, she spoke in support of the Black Lives Matter movement. She played the part of Rachel Zane for seven seasons (2011–2018) in the American TV legal drama Suits. She also developed a social media presence, which included The Tig (2014–2017), a lifestyle blog. During The Tig period, Meghan became involved in charity work focused primarily on women's issues and social justice. She was married to American film producer Trevor Engelson from 2011 until their divorce in 2014. The 40-year-old posted a picture with Megan and wrote that she loved talking about many important topics and was glad to be her first guest on the podcast.
A statement released by the Palace confirmed that the Duke and Duchess were to cease to undertake royal duties as representatives of the Queen and would therefore no longer receive the relevant financial support. The formal role of the Duke and Duchess was subject to a twelve-month review period, ending in March 2021. Meghan's final public solo engagement as a senior royal was a visit to Robert Clack School on March 7, 2020, in Dagenham ahead of International Women's Day. She and Harry attended the Commonwealth Day service at Westminster Abbey on March 9, 2020, which was their last engagement as a couple before they officially stepped down on March 31. Two years later, they made their first official appearance in the UK in June 2022 while attending the Platinum Jubilee National Service of Thanksgiving.

Sarah Ferguson Shares The Most Important Etiquette Lesson She Taught Her Daughters“No one wants to see a grumpy princess,” said the mother of Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie on her podcast, Tea Talks With The Duchess & Sarah. In contrast to the more formal looks we have seen Meghan in since the wedding, both of her polo ensembles were casual and relaxed, harkening  back a bit to the style we saw before she and Harry were engaged. On Saturday, she wore a cotton gingham Ashland dress, designed by Shoshanna Gruss, per People, which, oh yes, has already sold out. Timothy Clary/GettyDuring the match, the royal mom of one gave hugs to many who stopped to say hello and even received a cheer when ‘HRH The Duchess of Sussex’ was introduced on the jumbotron.
The tennis superstar and her sister Venus Williams appeared on Campbell's YouTube talk show, No Filter with Naomi, and expertly avoided talking about the Duchess of Sussex and her family's recent move back to the United States. The Duchess took a quick day trip to Wimbledon, held at the All-England Club in London, one of her first excursions since her son Archie was born just a month ago. She was photographed there with Genevieve Hillis and Lindsay Roth, Legacy two of her friends from Northwestern University. And FYI, there are whispers that because two of the Duchess’ oldest friends are in town, they might have been chosen to be among Archie’s godparents at the christening on Saturday. “I don't think I've ever said anything about it publicly,” Serena said, in one of several revealing anecdotes that the former world No. 1 recently shared with longtime friend Meghan Markle on the first episode of Archetypes.

Williams opened up in her interview with "The Project" about how it has been "really tough" to return to tennis full-time since giving birth to Olympia last September. She described herself as "really excelling" at some aspects of motherhood and feeling "like a fish out of water" in others. "I could not be more excited about it and proud of you," she posted on social media. Duchess Meghan showed up to support Williams at the Wimbledon final in July.
"Of course, as a mother, you go, 'Oh, my God, what?' Everyone's in tears, everyone's shaken," the duchess says. Meghan Markle has a lot going on these days, including taking care of a new baby and championing her charitable projects, but despite being a busy duchess, she still finds time to be a good friend to tennis star Serena Williams. Meghan Markle practically broke the internet yesterday by dropping the premiere episode of her Spotify and Archewell Audio podcast Archetypes, which featured her good friend and tennis star Serena Williams.
Markle appeared in small roles in the films Get Him to the Greek, Remember Me (produced by her then-partner Trevor Engelson) and The Candidate in 2010 and the film Horrible Bosses in 2011. She was paid $187,000 for her role in Remember Me and $171,429 for her role in the short film The Candidate. In July 2011, she joined the cast of the USA Network show Suits through to late 2017 and the seventh season. Her character, Rachel Zane, began as a paralegal and eventually became an attorney. While working on Suits, she lived for nine months each year in Toronto.

In February 2022, she voiced her support for the Supreme Court nomination of Ketanji Brown Jackson. In June 2022, she publicly supported Moms Demand Action, an organization which campaigns for safer gun laws in the US. In the same month, in an interview with Jessica Yellin for Vogue, Meghan criticized the Supreme Court of the United States's decision that abortion is not a protected constitutional right and voiced her support for the proposed Equal Rights Amendment.
Harry and Meghan stepped away from royal duties in March 2020 over what they described as intrusions and racist attitudes of the British media toward the duchess. They have since relocated to California, where they are raising their children, Archie and Lili. She said she wanted to spend time with her son, but she and Harry had to go and do another official engagement. It was within the same year that Williams had her daughter — and the night before the 2018 French Open final, during which Williams wore her “infamous catsuit” designed to prevent blood clotting. Olympia had fallen out of her highchair and broke her wrist while under Williams’ care, something that “devastated” the Olympic gold-medalist and Grand Slam winner. The duke and duchess have a multimillion-dollar deal with Netflix, also signed in 2020.

Williams told Us exclusively in December 2019 that she keeps Meghan in mind when she’s designing clothes for her S by Serena line. "She quickly became a confidante I would text when I was traveling, the friend I would rally around for her tennis matches, and the down-to-earth chick I was able to grab lunch with just a couple weeks ago in Toronto," Meghan once wrote on The Tig. “We are both the same age, have a penchant for hot sauces, and adore fashion, but what connects us more than those things is perhaps our belief in exceeding expectations–our endless ambition."
