Jack Dorsey introduced the idea of creating an SMS that would allow a user to communicate with a small group of people. Rome wasn’t built in a day – much like the world-famous companies that we all recognize today. Even they had to start from something – and you might be surprised when you find out that quite a few of them started out by doing things completely different than they are  doing now. Immediately, we heard the endemic Malaita White-eye and a few seconds later spotted the first one, which flew into a tree directly above us and sang a surprisingly musical song.
During this time, the company only sold roasted whole coffee beans and did not yet brew coffee to sell. During their first year of operation, they purchased green coffee beans from Peet's, then began buying directly from growers. In 1937 Patrick McDonald opened "The Airdrome", a food stand, on Huntington Drive near the Monrovia 台東地瓜酥 Airport in the Los Angeles County city of Monrovia, California with hot dogs being one of the first items sold. Hamburgers were later added to the menu at a cost of ten cents with all-you-can-drink orange juice at five cents. In 1940, sons Maurice and Richard moved the entire building to San Bernardino, California.

Fenqihu is a cute little mountain village with an Old Street. Its busy in the daytime when everyone stops there for lunchboxes on the way to Alishan. But at night it is super quiet and you can sometimes see fireflies there.

During the festival season, hot air balloons and experts congregate in Luye Highlands and colourful balloons soar daily in the early morning and late afternoon. I am going to put it on my wish list – if we ever do a tour of Taiwan, when corona virus is well over. It sounds fascinating – I stumbled across it when I came across the Yami language on Youtube and would like to learn more about the culture of the Tao people. A 15-minute walk rewards you with awesome views of an expansive grassland and dramatic coastal bluffs, with surprisingly large Little Orchid Island (小蘭嶼) clearly visible off the coast. In Kaiyuan, you may need to stop at 7-Eleven, the island’s only petrol station, the supermarket, or ferry terminal.

Hualien city is relatively small, so you can walk to the main attractions. If you mean Hualien county, the county is very large, so it will depend where you are going. The train is the best way to reach places along Highway 9, but there are only slow buses along the coastal Highway 11. Cycling, driving, or riding a scooter and the best ways to explore the region. Taiwanese locals have a serious love affair with cycling, so it’s understandable that both Giant and Merida have honed their skills to become the powerhouses of the industry that they are today. Hi Penny, I was able to rent it because I have a local Taiwanese scooter license.
The island’s dramatic landscape promises stunning sunrise and sunset on clear days at the Dongqing Bay and Green Green grassland. However, it was not long before the original structure was inadequate to accommodate the large number of worshippers. Thus, another temple was built on the current site near Hanxi Village, in what is now the East District of Taichung City in 1791. Restoration work was performed on the temple in 1928 and 1963. This two-storey structure is among the largest and most ornate temples in Taichung. To the left of the main temple structure is an incense burner where ghost money can be burned for the deceased, which was built in 1828.

The lake is famous for its gorgeous panoramas, aboriginal culture, beautiful temples overlooking the lake, and the annual mass swim. May in Taiwan, June in Taiwan, and September in Taiwan are, in my opinion, the best times to visit. Wulai District of New Taipei City is home to Taiwan’s northernmost aboriginal tribe, and the closest one to Taipei City. Wulai is many local expats’ favorite day trip from Taipei, for its riverside thermal hot springs, awesome hiking and river tracing, wild scenery, and delicious aboriginal treats. The night market in Keelung, northern Taiwan’s largest port, is so special that it gets its own entry here.
There’s also a ginormous outlet mall, and you can spend the night at E-Da Skylark Hotel (see on Booking / Agoda / Klook / Tripadvisor) or E-Da Royal (see on Booking / Agoda / Tripadvisor). For something really special, spend the night in one of the monster-themed rooms at Monster Village Hotel (see on Booking / Agoda / Tripadvisor). Quirky Xitou Monster Village in Nantou is a peculiar, off-the-beaten-track attraction in Taiwan. This Japanese monster-themed village has an interesting and touching story behind it; read all about it my detailed guide to Monster Village. The second is that the park has one of the best displays of cherry blossoms in the country, usually taking place in February to early March.

To come there, you need to take the yacht from Wushih Harbor. A stranger addition to the culinary offerings of Tainan, coffin bread features a slice of thick bread, hollowed up and  filled with a creamy chicken or seafood stew. It's then topped with another piece of bread, usually fried, to complete the 'coffin' look.
In Taitung, you can see the magnificent sun rising from and falling into the Pacific Ocean. The sea-crossing pedestrian bridge and the gorgeous coral reef coast in Sanxiantai are intoxicating. As you might imagine in such a rural part of Taiwan, day trips from Taitung are as amazing as anything you’ll find in the city center. Not only is Taitung a wonderful destination in itself, it’s also a great gateway to Taiwan’s east coast, whether you visit in the middle of a road trip, or use it as the jumping-off point for one.
